Life is busy. There is always something that needs my attention: my work, my family, the washing, the shopping. Endless lists and responsibilities that spill into every corner of life, taking up all the space I have. A constant mental load, holding the details of every day: the joy and the challenges; managing the present, chronicling the past and planning the future. 

So, today, with my girlfriends, as I slip on my favourite swimsuit, sink my toes into the sand and let the waves wash over my feet, I give myself permission to give to myself. 

Yes the world is waiting. But first, me.

I am so excited about launching our newest swimwear collection: But first, me. I know this woman that we describe above. Probably you do too. Perhaps you are her? I know I am. Life is busy and there always seems to be something more important that demands our focus. Maybe one day, maybe next week, maybe when things are calmer. Sound familiar?

And yet, I know the restorative power of time with my best girlfriends. Stepping out of the busyness and into a carefree version of ourselves. The importance of time spent playing, and relaxing, laughing and feeling joy. 

But first, me introduces a range of new prints, styles and shapes to our seasonless swimwear collection. And, excitingly, we introduce every style in our full range of sizes from UK 8 to 24, AA-HH cups - across bikinis and swimsuits. 

We have partnered again with Liberty Fabrics to produce a collection of pieces using their beautiful prints - odes to the wildness of jungles (Pink Jungle) and the mesmerising calm of water (Mountain River). Alongside new, exclusive D&B prints that captured our imaginations (Wild Iris) and inspired dips (Ocean Marble). 

We've continued to collaborate with organisations that do good and important work. The Body Happy Org (BHO) is a social enterprise who work with young people to help establish good relationships with their bodies. At D&B we are passionate about addressing the body image concerns that stop women from enjoying water. We love that BHO are tackling this issue at the very start of its journey, through preventative action. £15 from the sale of every Body Happy Suit will be donated to Body Happy Org.

Based on customer feedback we have tweaked existing styles to offer additional comfort, support and versatility. Our Plunge High Waist Bikini and Plunge Swimsuits now come with adjustable straps for improved fit around the bust. And where we can, we have made styles reversible, offering you two swimsuits in one. (My personal favourite might be the X-Back in Ocean Marble & Teal, or perhaps the effortlessly comfortable Plunge Swimsuit in Forest Green & Black). 

And, because joyful days on the beach need accessories, this summer we also launch four distressed cotton baseball caps which join our range of well loved beach bag must-haves: trusty dry bags, towels and totes. 

As always, our swimwear collection is made responsibly in East London where we know every seamstress by name. Every piece is made from regenerated waste or deadstock fabric, and every product comes with a guarantee (got an issue? We’ll repair it for you.) Every piece is designed to be durable, to last for dip after dip and many happy days in the sun. (And when it really is finished, we’ll recycle it for you).
